Alfredo "Fred" Panopio, born on February 2, 1939, in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, was a singer and occasional actor who rose to fame in the 1960s. He is known for popularizing yodeling music in the Philippines with hits like "Pitong Gatang" and "Markado." Panopio's career began with early singles such as "Ako'y Sa Iyo Lamang" and "Ang Kapalaran Ko," which showcased his unique vocal style. Throughout his career, he released numerous albums including Kawawang Cowboy (1994). Panopio also appeared in several movies alongside notable actors like Jess Lapid and Fernando Poe Jr., often singing theme songs for Poe's films. In 2009, he was honored as a "Living Legend" on the noon-time variety show Wowowee. Alfredo "Fred" Panopio died of cardiac arrest on April 22, 2010, at the age of 71 in Quezon City, Philippines.
