Roman Tesorio Villame, known professionally as Yoyoy Villame, amd born on November 18, 1932, in Calape, Bohol Province, Philippines, was a singer and actor. He began composing songs during his elementary days and later became a jeepney driver. His first recording, "Magellan", released in 1972, became a top-selling record in the Visayas-Mindanao region. Villame signed with Vicor Records and established his unique style blending Filipino folk melodies with witty lyrics. Notable songs include "Mag-exercise Tayo" (1977), which became an official music for morning exercise routines, and "Butse Kik" (1980). Villame's career spanned over 25 albums, including Best of Yoyoy (1982) and Mac-Arthur and Dagohoy (1991). He also won several sales awards, including a double platinum for Tirana, My Dear (1988). He also acted in various films such as Isla Limasawa (1972) and Biktima (1974). He died on May 18, 2007.
