Johnny Laws, born on January 12, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, was an American Chicago blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began performing on the South Side of Chicago in the mid-1960s, influenced by artists like Jimmy Reed and Buster Benton. He released his debut album, My Little Girl, in 1995 through Wolf Records, which included several original compositions alongside blues standards. His second album, Blues Burnin' In My Soul, was released in 1999 on Electro-Fi Records and featured cover versions of songs by Junior Wells and Jimmy Reed, among others. Laws was a regular performer at the annual Chicago Blues Festival and gained local acclaim for his versatile style, which ranged from soul to country music. He passed away on March 28, 2021, at the age of 78.
