Emiliano Salvador, born on August 19, 1951, in Puerto Padre, Las Tunas, Cuba, was a pianist known for his contributions to jazz and world music. He studied percussion and piano at the Escuela Nacional de Arte and later with Juan Elósegui, Federico Smith, and Leo Brouwer. Salvador's career began with his involvement in the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora del ICAIC and as a pianist and arranger for Pablo Milanés' group. He also collaborated with notable artists such as Silvio Rodríguez, Chico Buarque, and MPB4.
Salvador founded and directed his own group, which included musicians like José Carlos Acosta on saxophone and Emilio del Monte on drums. His compositions, including "Angélica", "Poly", and "Mi contradanza", enriched the jazz repertoire in Cuba. Salvador's work was posthumously recognized with a Cubadisco award for Pianísimo in 2001. He passed away on October 22, 1992, in Havana.
