The Newlydeads were an industrial rock band founded in 1997 by Taime Downe, who was also the singer for Faster Pussycat. The group initially featured several of Downe's Faster Pussycat bandmates, including guitarist Xristian Simon, bassist Danny Nordahl, and drummer Chad Stewart. Their debut album, The Newlydeads, marked their entry into the music scene. In 1998, they released a remix album titled Re-Bound. The band's second full studio album, Dead End, was released in 2001. Throughout their career, The Newlydeads contributed to various compilation albums, including "Lipstick" on the 2002 release Heat Slick Records Compilation and a cover of "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails on the 2007 Cleopatra release Industrial Masters. Their final album, Dreams From A Dirt Nap, was released in 2006. The band disbanded later that year.
