Felix Hauptmann was born on October 2, 1993, in Germany. He is a jazz pianist, synthesizer player, and composer. He founded the HNK Trio in 2009, achieving early success with wins at the Studiopreis des Deutschlandfunks in 2011 and the European Jazz Award in Kaiserslautern in 2012. The trio released their debut album First Steps in 2012. Hauptmann studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln starting in 2012 and collaborated with artists like Laura Totenhagen. In 2020, he released the album Talk with his own quartet. His collaborative jazz-piano trio Percussion debuted in 2022, followed by a second volume in 2023. He won the prize for best soloist at the International Jazz Competition in Mechelen in 2015 and received the Horst und Gretl Will Stipendium for Jazz/Improvisierte Musik in 2022.
