Alberto Camerini, born on May 16, 1951, in São Paulo, Brazil, is an Italian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He moved to Milan at age 11 with his Jewish-Italian parents who had emigrated to South America a few years earlier. Camerini began his music career by forming two bands, Il Pacco and L'Enorme Maria, with Eugenio Finardi while studying at the University of Milan. In 1976, he released his debut single "Pane quotidiano", followed by three albums that blended rock with Brazilian influences: Cenerentola e il pane quotidiano (1976), Gelato metropolitano (1977), and Comici cosmetici (1978). In the 1980s, Camerini collaborated with producer Roberto Colombo; he drew inspiration from krautrock and achieved success with synthpop tracks like "Rock 'n' roll robot" (1981) and "Tanz bambolina" (1982). He participated in the 1984 Festival di Sanremo with "La bottega del caffè", finishing 16th. After a decade-long hiatus following the release of Angeli in blue jeans in 1986, Camerini returned with Dove l'arcobaleno arriva in 1995.
