Matthew Edward Barnes, known professionally as Forest Swords, is an English record producer, composer, DJ, and artist. Forest Swords began his career with the release of the Fjree Feather EP in 2009. His debut six-track EP, Dagger Paths, was released in March 2010 and reissued later that year with additional tracks. Forest Swords' first studio album, Engravings, was released through Tri Angle Records in August 2013. His second album, Compassion, was released through Ninja Tune in May 2017. In July 2023, Forest Swords released the single "Butterfly Effect" and announced his third album, Bolted.
