The Clerks' Group, a British early music vocal ensemble, was formed in 1992 by Edward Wickham from choral scholars at Oxford University. The group quickly gained recognition and was signed by the record label ASV (later Sanctuary Classics). In the 1990s, their recording profile focused on the music of Johannes Ockeghem, culminating in a complete recording of his sacred music in 1999, which earned them a Gramophone Award. The Clerks' Group also explored neglected repertoire and composers such as Jacob Barbireau, Johannes Tinctoris, and Johannes Regis. In the late 2000s, they expanded into contemporary music, premiering works by British composers including Robert Saxton, Gabriel Jackson, and Christopher Fox.
