John Jones Jr., known as Tutu Jones, was born on September 9, 1966, in Dallas, Texas. He is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter specializing in electric blues and soul-blues. Introduced to music at a young age by his father, Johnny B. Jones, a local R&B guitarist, Tutu Jones began playing guitar at five years old. His early career involved drumming for various artists including Z.Z. Hill and R.L. Burnside.
Jones' debut album I'm For Real was released in 1994 on JSP Records and nominated for a W.C. Handy Award. He followed this with Staying Power in 1998, and a live album Tutu Jones Live in 2005.
