Larry Garner, born July 8, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter known for his contributions to Louisiana blues. Growing up in Baton Rouge, Garner was inspired by local musicians and received private guitar lessons from his uncle. After serving in the military, he returned to Baton Rouge and began performing while working at Dow Chemical. Garner's breakthrough came with his victory at the International Blues Challenge in 1988. His early albums, Double Dues (1995) and Too Blues (1994), were released on JSP Records, with the latter earning the Prix Big Bill Broonzy award. Notable releases include You Need to Live a Little (1996), Standing Room Only (1998), and Baton Rouge (1999). In 2008, Garner released Here Today Gone Tomorrow, reflecting his serious illness that year.
