Mallikarjun Bheemaraayappa Mansur, born on December 31, 1910 in Mansur village near Dharwad, Karnataka. He began his musical journey at age nine performing with a Yakshagana troupe and later received initial training in Carnatic music under Appaya Swamy. His transition to Hindustani music came through Nilkanth Bua Alurmath of the Gwalior gharana, who introduced him to Alladiya Khan of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. Mansur's career took off under the tutelage of Manji Khan and later Bhurji Khan. Mansur released several notable albums including Hindi Classical (1968), Raga Kukubh Bilawal, Raga Sughrai & Raga Nand - Music Today Presents (1992), and Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur (1995). He received the Padma Shri Award in 1970, Padma Bhushan in 1976, and Padma Vibhushan in 1992. Mansur also authored an autobiographical book titled Nanna Rasayatre. He passed away on September 12, 1992, due to lung cancer and was given a state funeral.
