Iqbal Bano was a Pakistani singer who performed ghazals. She studied under Ustad Sabri Khan and Ustad Chaand Khan of the Delhi gharana. Her career started when she sang on All India Radio, Delhi and recorded her first songs. In 1948, Bano migrated to Pakistan and married into a land-owning family in Multan. She collaborated with notable lyricists and composers, and her early film soundtracks include "Payal Mein Geet Hai Cham Cham Ke" from Gumnaam and "Taaron Ka Bhi Tu Maalik" from Sarfarosh. By the 1970s, she had achieved fame as a popular artist. In 1974, she received the Pride of Performance award. Her repertoire includes ghazals by Mirza Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Bano passed away on April 21, 2009, in Lahore.
