Jessica Lurie, born on October 3, 1967, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was an American musician, composer, and saxophonist who originally hailed from Seattle. She first gained recognition as a member of The Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, releasing their debut album Saxhouse in 1993. In 1995, Lurie released her first album with the group Living Daylights, titled Falling Down Laughing. From 2002, she led the Jessica Lurie Ensemble, releasing notable albums such as Licorice & Smoke in 2005 and Megaphone Heart in 2012. Lurie's compositions included music for films like No Sleep Won't Kill You (2010) and Fibonacci Bread (2012). She collaborated with various artists, including Eyvind Kang and Jon Madof's Zion80. Her discography spanned multiple genres, which showcased her versatility as a saxophonist and composer.
