Gustave Cloëz, born on August 3, 1890, in Cuincy, France, was a conductor. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris under Charles Wilfrid de Bériot and Lazare-Lévy. Cloëz began his conducting career at the Opéra-Comique de Paris with Manon on August 1, 1922, and remained active there for 25 years. Notable premieres he conducted include Le Fou de la Dame, Rayon de Soieries, and Mon Ami Pierrot. He also directed ballets such as La Précaution inutile and Roméo et Juliette. Cloëz worked extensively with the Compagnie d'Ida Rubinstein, leading performances like Les Enchantements d'Alcino and Diane de Poitiers. His recordings include collaborations with prominent singers of his time, such as Emma Luart and Ninon Vallin. He also directed orchestral works, including Intermezzo by Georges Hugon and Concerto pour piano n° 2 by Liszt. Cloëz passed away on March 15, 1970, in Paris.
