Nancy Martinez, born Nancy Martin on August 26, 1960 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a singer known for her contributions to dance and electronic music. She grew up in the Rosemount neighborhood of Montreal and studied piano as a child. Nancy Martinez began her career touring with various artists, including Chatelaine and René Simard, during 1980-81. Her initial releases included four Hi-NRG tracks between 1982 and 1983: "I'm Gonna Get Your Love" and "Who Cares" (credited as Jade), and "Can't Believe" and "Hold Your Horses Baby" (credited as Nancy Martin). She then released her debut album Lay It Down on Matra Records, featuring the singles "So Excited" and "Take It Slowly". In 1986, Nancy Martinez released Not Just The Girl Next Door on Atlantic Records, which included the dance hits "For Tonight", "Move Out", and "Crazy Love". "For Tonight" peaked at number 2 for two weeks on the dance charts and crossed over to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching number 32. In 1987, she was nominated as Most Promising Female Vocalist at the Juno Awards. Nancy Martinez continued with albums such as Unpredictable (1989), her self-titled French album (1990), Pourquoi Tu Pars? (1993), La Maîtresse De Tes Rêves (1996), Bird's in the House (1998), and Downtown (2004). Notable collaborations include "Not Guilty" with MC Mario and Ivan Pavlin in 2006, and appearances on Kmaro's "Femme Like You" and "Crazy".
