Formado en 2019 en Quincy, Illinois, Avenue Beat es un trío compuesto por Savana Santos, Sami Bearden y Sam Backoff. Su sonido mezcla melodías pop, instrumentación country, ritmos hip-hop y humor con una producción hábil. Avenue Beat se formó cuando Santos y Backoff, amigos desde la infancia, conocieron a Bearden en un campamento de teatro del instituto. Finalmente se trasladaron a Nashville y firmaron un contrato conjunto con Tape Room Records y Valory Music Co. de Big Machine Label Group. Su EP debut homónimo fue lanzado en julio de 2019. El EP contó con la pista de enfoque "Ruin That For Me". Aunque su música se inclinaba más hacia el pop y el hip-hop, fueron defendidos por la comunidad de música country y la prensa. En abril de 2020, Avenue Beat publicó el EP The Quarantine Covers. Siguieron con el single "I Really Don't Like Your Boyfriend" en mayo de 2020, que se hizo viral y convirtió al trío en una sensación de las redes sociales. En julio, Avenue Beat lanzó "F2020", un tema que abordaba con humor sus sentimientos sobre la pandemia. La canción, que debutó en la plataforma de redes sociales TikTok, obtuvo 11 millones de visitas antes incluso de su lanzamiento oficial ese mismo mes.
