Paul Butterfield

Como estudiante de la Universidad de Chicago, Paul Butterfield fue uno de los primeros blancos de la ciudad en frecuentar los clubes de blues del gueto negro. Entabló amistad con Muddy Waters y Little Walter, que se convirtió en su profesor de armónica. Gracias al impacto de los Rolling Stones en Estados Unidos, Butterfield disfrutó de un gran éxito con su propio blues-rock, interpretado por su banda en la que figuraba el guitarrista Mike Bloomfield. Tras su triunfo en Woodstock, Butterfield cayó en la drogadicción y grabó una serie de álbumes mediocres. Murió en la indiferencia general. Pero fue Butterfield quien allanó el camino para el blues norteño blanco que domina hoy la escena del blues estadounidense.
