Kym Mazelle es una cantante estadounidense nacida el 10 de agosto de 1960 en Gary, Indiana. Se la reconoce como una de las pioneras del house vocal y la música de baile transatlántica. Trasladada al Reino Unido en la década de 1980, se convirtió en una figura clave de la escena house británica, fusionando los sonidos del house de Chicago con el R&B y el soul. Comenzó su carrera discográfica en 1987 con el tema "Taste My Love", producido por Marshall Jefferson. En 1989, obtuvo su primer éxito notable en el Reino Unido con "Wait", un dúo con Robert Howard (alias Dr. Robert de The Blow Monkeys), que alcanzó el número 7ᵉ en las listas británicas. Ese mismo año publicó su álbum debut Crazy, del que se extrajeron los sencillos "Love Strain" y "Useless (I Don't Need You Now)". En 1990, volvió a unirse a Soul II Soul para el tema "Missing You", incluido en su segundo álbum Vol. II: 1990 - A New Decade. En 1991 tuvo otro éxito en solitario con "No One Can Love You More Than Me", seguido en 1994 por la remezcla de la versión de Candi Staton "Young Hearts Run Free", que alcanzó el número 13ᵉ en el Reino Unido tras aparecer en la banda sonora de la película Romeo + Julieta de 1996. También colaboró con The Rapino Brothers en "Love Me the Right Way" (1992), un tema house que alcanzó el número 22ᵉ en la lista británica.
