Biography

The American rapper BigWalkDog was born as "Da'Jour Walker" on May 20, 1997. Initially raised in Flint, Michigan, he moved to Mississippi as a child and developed an appreciation for rap artists like Three 6 Mafia and Gucci Mane, the latter of whom would later become his musical mentor. Looking to launch his own rap career, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he worked in a local factory and made his independent debut with the single "Pull Up" in 2020. Additional releases like "Tyson and "B.T.D" followed, attracting attention from Gucci Mane and eventually resulting in an offer to join Mane's label, The New 1017. Gucci also featured BigWalkDog on the song "Poppin," which failed to chart but became a viral success nonetheless. Released in early 2021, "Poppin" was followed by singles like "Whole Lotta Ice" and "Came From the Bottom." BigWalkDog finished the year with a number of collaborative releases, teaming up with Big Scarr for "Vert," working with Gucci Mane once again on "Trap God," and appearing on Hotboy Wes' single "Rolling Loud." Another Gucci mane duet, "Know What I Mean," followed in 2022, as did a full-length album called Trick City. Featuring a number of BigWalkDog's previously-released singles, Trick City was quickly followed by "I'm a Dog (Freestyle)," whose music video became a hit that summer.
