Margot Werner was born on 8 December 1937 in Salzburg, Austria, and became a noted singer and former ballet dancer. She began ballet training at age three and later studied at the Salzburg Landestheater, eventually joining the Bayerische Staatsballett in Munich where she advanced to principal dancer. Her transition to music started in 1972 when composer Bert Grund wrote three songs for her, leading to her first single "Mein Leben Ist Wie Ein Tanz" in 1975. Werner released her debut album Und Für Jeden Kommt Der Tag in 1974, followed by Wasser, Feuer, Luft Und Erde (1976) and Das Kann Nur Liebe Sein (1976). The 1977 single "So Ein Mann" became a significant hit, and the album Stargala (1977) reinforced her popularity. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s she issued albums such as Nur Eine Frau (1977), Ich Hab' Im Leben Nichts Bereut (1978), and Häng Dich Bei Mir Rein (1980), while touring Germany and internationally. In 1985 she released Traumflüge and continued to perform in concert halls, including a notable appearance at the New York Metropolitan Opera Ball. Werner passed away on 1 July 2012 in Munich; a greatest‑hits collection Meine Größten Erfolge – Ich Hab’ Im Leben Nichts Bereut was issued in 2007.
