Biography

Swiss pop and schlager singer Beatrice Egli began singing as a child and eventually joined forces with the well-known Swiss singer Lys Assia, who had previously won the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest back in 1956. Born on June 21, 1988, in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, the child singer made her official debut with the album Sag Mir Wo Wohnen Die Engel, which went on to have minor commercial success. The two singers began to make appearances at folk music festivals singing popular folk and schlager music songs, a combination which appealed to the conservative taste of Swiss audiences. Egli initially harbored ambitions to be a hairdresser but eventually enrolled at acting school prior to applying to appear on the German talent show Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar where she went on to win first prize and a recording contract with Universal Music Group in 2013. Her winning song from the show titled "Mein Herz" went on to top the charts in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, and she went on to become a popular artist in Northern Europe selling more than 1 million records. Released later that year, Glücksgefühle, her major-label debut, soared to the top of the Swiss charts, also reaching Number 2 in Germany and Austria. It was followed by the equally successful Pure Lebensfreude (2013) and Bis hierher und viel weiter (2014), both of which also hit Number 1 in Switzerland and helped her win the Breakthrough category at the Echo Awards. Over the following years, Beatrice Egli took home 3 Swiss Music Awards and continued to enjoy chart success in the German-speaking world with an impressive run of Number 1 albums that included Wohlfühlgarantie (2018), Natürlich (2019), Mini Schwiiz, mini Heimat (2020), Alles was du brauchst (2021), and Balance (2023).
