The Endellion String Quartet was a British string quartet named after St Endellion in Cornwall, formed in 1979 by Andrew Watkinson, Louise Williams, Garfield Jackson, and David Waterman. Ralph de Souza replaced Williams as the second violinist in 1986. The quartet became the quartet-in-residence at Cambridge University in 1992 and regularly performed at venues such as Wigmore Hall. Their discography includes notable albums like Beethoven String Quartets - Vol 1 (2005) and Schubert: String Quartets No.13, 'rosamunde' & No.14, 'death And The Maiden' (2012). The Endellion Quartet commissioned new music from composers such as Sally Beamish and Jonathan Dove and received the award for 'Best Chamber Ensemble' from the Royal Philharmonic Society in 1996. Their planned farewell season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to their disbandment in 2021.
