One of the finest bass-baritone singers of his generation, Christian Gerhaher (b. 1969) developed his career after winning the Prix Pro Musicis in 1998. An international performer in opera productions and recitals, he puts his above-average baritone timbre to good use in numerous lieder cycles by his favorite composers Schubert, Schumann and Mahler, and has been recording since 2000 with his faithful collaborator, pianist Gerold Huber. The recitals Mahler's Orchetral Songs and Nachtviolen: Schubert Lieder, released in 2013 and 2014 respectively, are critically acclaimed.
