Federspiel, a brass band from Austria, was formed in 2004 in Krems an der Donau by seven students of the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Conservatory of Vienna. The ensemble initially collaborated with Rudi Pietsch to arrange traditional folk music for their unique lineup, which included original compositions blending pop elements with Austrian and neighboring countries' folk music. Their debut album Federspiel was released in 2010, followed by Unerhört Bumm in 2012, which won the Ö1 Pasticcio-Preis. The group gained significant recognition winning the Austrian World Music Awards in 2015 and performing at notable events such as the opening of the Wiener Festwochen in 2016. Federspiel's discography includes Live aus dem Wiener Musikverein (2014), Smaragd (2016), Wolperting (2018), and Von der langsamen Zeit (2019). Their music has been featured in the film Das Leben ist keine Generalprobe, and they have also toured extensively across Europe and Canada.
