Holstuonarmusigbigbandclub, known as HMBC, was formed in 2003 in Vorarlberg, Austria, by a group of student musicians from regional conservatories who initially performed traditional alpine folk music in local taverns. The group gained national attention with their breakthrough single "Vo Mello bis ge Schoppornou" released in 2010, which entered the Austrian singles chart and peaked at number 2; the accompanying music video accumulated over one million views by October 2010. Their debut studio album Querschlager followed in 2007, featuring covers of popular German-language schlager and international pop songs, and was succeeded by Free Sin in 2008. The 2011 album Lieble introduced original material and was supported by the single "Vorreasso, vorkouft, as louft". In 2012 the live album Grüsele Live was issued, and the 2014 studio release Hearad was preceded by the single "Wild West Coast of Austria", a homage to their homeland. The 2016 album Crazy Live captured a concert performance and included the single "Crazy Night". HMBC’s career highlights include a 2012 Amadeus Austrian Music Award for Song of the Year awarded to "Vo Mello bis ge Schoppornou" and a gold record for the single in Austria. After more than fifteen years of touring and over a thousand performances, the band concluded with a farewell concert on 28 May 2017 at Bahnhof Andelsbuch, marking the end of their active years.
