Claron McFadden, born in 1961 in New York City, is an American soprano who studied at the Eastman School of Music. She made her operatic debut on June 1, 1985, at the Holland Festival as Ulania in L'eroe cinese by Johann Adolf Hasse under Ton Koopman's direction. McFadden gained international recognition with her performance in the title role of Alban Berg’s opera Lulu at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival in 1986, conducted by Andrew Davis. She made her French debut that same year in Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Anacréon. McFadden has collaborated with notable conductors such as William Christie and John Eliot Gardiner, performing at prestigious venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and La Scala. In 2019, she received a special award at the Rotterdamse Operadagen and was named Chevalier of the Order of Orange-Nassau in April 2020 for her contributions to society.
