Anima Eterna Brugge, a Belgian symphony orchestra founded in 1987 by Jos van Immerseel in Bruges, Belgium, initially began as an ensemble specializing in historical orchestrations on period instruments. The group's first notable performance was at the Opéra Royal de Versailles in 1988, where they presented Les Plaisirs de Versailles H.480 by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Over time, Anima Eterna Brugge expanded its repertoire to include classical, romantic, and contemporary works, evolving into a full symphonic orchestra. In the 2020-2021 season, Jos van Immerseel stepped down as principal conductor and handed over leadership to younger conductors such as Giovanni Antonini and Pablo Heras-Casado.
