Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum, a chamber orchestra based in Leipzig, Germany, was founded in 1979 by Max Pommer and Walter Heinz Bernstein. The ensemble follows the tradition of collegia musica established by Johann Sebastian Bach and is dedicated to historically informed performances. Initially led by Pommer, who served as the first musical director, the NBCM gained international recognition with recordings such as Brandenburg Concertos, which won the 1985 Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and with notable collaborations with Ludwig Güttler and Christine Schornsheim. In 1988, Burkhard Glaetzner took over, expanding the repertoire to include classical period works. From 2003 to 2013, Albrecht Winter directed the orchestra, focusing on Baroque repertory, including works by Vivaldi and Corelli. The NBCM has performed historic programs from the Gewandhaus and also collaborated with various conductors for the series Bachische Abend-Musicken.
