Marcos is a soundtrack composer and producer. He is son of the composer Chico Mário, who was brother of the famous cartoonist Henfil and the sociologist Betinho. He produced the film “3 Irmãos de Sangue”, which is about his family, with Ângela Patrícia Reiniger as a director:

By 2008, Marcos Souza screened his film “3 Irmãos de Sangue” and played piano in Tropentheater, together with Lilian Vieira in Amsterdam. In 2009, he moved to Amsterdam, where he was an adviser of Brazilian films at the Beeld voor Beeld Film Festival at the Tropentheater. In 2009 he composed the soundtrack for a play called “Amor” and played live on a presentation. This play was produced by the theatre group Munganga: https://vimeo.com/11080357
In 2010 he started his Master's degree in Brazilian contemporary dance and piano play at the Codarts, and he also produced a famous “choro” gathering (a popular style of Brazilian music, similar to samba) called “roda de choro” at Tia Piripiri Bar, both in Rotterdam. In this same year, the artist released the album "Dance Improvisation" and “Winds of Amsterdam”, in which he recorded themes for dance presentations.
He worked as the director of the short film “Vivo Na Flauta”, and of television programs for TV MultiRio. Besides that, he worked in other projects and DVDs as journalist and producer, and in several films, theater, dance and television soundtracks.
Cinema
Recently, he has worked as music director and composer of the original soundtrack for the movie “Betinho, Uma Esperança Equilibrista”, created by Victor Lopes, also in the film “Henfil”, by Angela Zoé and Documenta Filmes and Globonews and in the film “Angel Vianna – Voando com os pés no Chão”, by Cristina Leal. Currently, he is concluding the music of the film “Ibiúna” and is preparing the music for the feature film “Chico Mário”, both by the filmmaker Silvio Tendler.
Tv Series
Marcos composed music for a 13 chapters tv series about religion called “Boto Fé”, for TV Giros Produções. He also composed for another series from the animation producer Campo 4, by César Coelho and Aida Queiroz (Anima Mundi) to Fiocruz, and, recently, he has composed for the series “Quantos Cabem” from Documenta Filmes.
Dance

Personal Statement
I really appreciate working with television and film production and with soundtrack production and composition. If I am able to participate from the beginning of the project it is even better, because it is possible to plan the role and the concept of the music, budget possibilities for the original tracks, recorded tracks and their copyrights, saving time and budget from audiovisual production.
