Harvey Averne, born in 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, is an American record producer. By age fourteen, he was a professional musician performing at venues across New York. In 1972, Averne founded CoCo Records, specializing in Afro-Cuban and Latin American music. He signed Eddie Palmieri and produced Sentido and Sun Of Latin Music, earning Palmieri the first Grammy in the "Latin Music" category (1975). Averne continued his success with productions like Unfinished Masterpiece by Eddie Palmieri, which won a Grammy in 1976. He also achieved major successes with albums such as Muy Amigos by Danny Rivera and Eydie Gorme, and The Machito Orchestra with Lalo Rodriguez's Fireworks. As a songwriter, he penned over fifty songs, including "My Dream" and "You're No Good", both from the album Viva Soul.
