After 8 years of being the frontman for the band Cookhouse, Ronald Hendriksen (34) embarked on his solo career as Ron Hendrickx in April 2024. The pull of the many rustic songs residing inside him gave him the final nudge to quit his job as a cinematographer and pursue music full-time. Documenting his journey as an independent artist on social media, Ron shares both the beauty and hardships of his new path in life.
Ron Hendrickx writes, produces, mixes, and masters his pieces from his studio in a repurposed old jailhouse in the Netherlands. His sound, a rich and eclectic blend of pop, folk, soul, rock, and Africana, is reflected in his choice of organic instruments: guitar, bass, piano, harmonica, world instruments, and strings.
His latest single ‘Rush Me’ explore themes of resistance, self-preservation, and finding peace amidst chaos. The lyrics depict a turbulent, almost apocalyptic environment, with strong imagery like “angel blood upon the trees of life” and “churches burning of the morning light” suggesting a world in moral or social decline.
The forthcoming E.P. will feature six of his most intimate, hopeful, and earthy songs, combining Africana rhythms with an indie soft-rock core, revealing a more enlightened and soulful side of Ron.
Despite being at the humble beginning of his solo career, Ron is already supporting major Dutch acts such as Waylon, BLØF, Douwe Bob, Racoon, Alain Clark, Mell VF and more at the Kampvuurconcerten 2024 from spring to late summer.
