About Parralox: John von Ahlen, a Melbourne native is the mastermind behind Parralox's world-class sound. Parralox have specifically made a splash within the club culture due to their cutting-edge, electronic pop sound. Parralox, an Australian electronic music band based in Melbourne, were formed in 2008 by John von Ahlen and within that same year released their debut album "Electricity", which took the Internet and pop blogosphere by storm. John's passion and commitment to electronic music is unparalleled and his knowledge of all technologies associated with the genre is seriously impressive. A mix of '80's dance pop and modern EDM/synthwave styles by the likes of Stuart Price, Trevor Horn and Goldfrapp influences Parralox's unique sound. Parralox embraces difference and has a love for all things science fiction, synthetic and surreal.
Biography
Paradise feat Marcella Detroit is the follow up single to Electric Nights (which peaked at #10 in the UK Club Charts in 2018).
From Shakespears Sister to Absolutely Fabulous, Marcella Detroit knows her way around pop culture! Marcella features on the new Parralox song "Paradise", which includes Eric Kupper and Lifelike Remixes.
Paradise was originally included on the Subculture album and features vocals by Marcella Detroit, with backing vocals by Louise Love, Johanna Gervin and Lillia Mendoza. The idea itself stemmed from the Pet Shop Boys collaboration with artists such as Dusty Springfield and Liza Minnelli.
Marcella first met John when he remixed the song "Shakespears Sister - Stay (Parralox Remix)" from her previous band Shakespears Sister, in 2015.
Then John interviewed Marcella for his radio show Neon Nights on JOY949 (Australia's Biggest LGBTIQ Radio Station).
The two stayed in touch and when John was recording the Subculture album, he asked Marcella if she'd like to contribute vocals.
Paradise was the perfect choice, and so Marcella recorded vocals for the track in USA, with backing vocals by Johanna Gervin (UK), Lillia Mendoza (USA) and Louise Love (Australia) for a truly international vibe.
The Music Video filmed in Melbourne, Australia is a High Camp Affair, evoking memories of The Golden Age of Hollywood with a dash of 2001 : A Space Odyssey.
Marcella appears as "Elsa B" and John as "Valentine X", doing their best homage to Rita Hayworth and Marlon Brando.
In the first week of it's release, Paradise feat Marcella Detrot hit #9 on the iTunes Dance Chart in Australia, and has already garnered club support across USA. The release is being promoted across in USA by ZIP DJ.
Marcella Detroit was a vocalist in the band Shakespears Sister, appeared in the BBC TV Show Absolutely Fabulous and sang backing vocals on "I've Had The Time of my Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes.
Did we mention Marcella also co-wrote Lay Down Sally with Eric Clapton and wrote songs for Aretha Franklin, Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, Stanley Clarke, Chaka Khan, Belinda Carlisle, and Al Jarreau?
