Sandra Kay Matthews, known professionally as Sandra St. Victor, was an American singer-songwriter born on May 28, 1963. She attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. St. Victor began her career with a local band in Dallas before moving to New York in the early 1980s. There, she joined Roy Ayers' band Ubiquity and later toured with Chaka Khan. In 1986, she met producers Peter Lord and Jeffrey Smith, leading to the formation of The Family Stand. Their international hit single "Ghetto Heaven" marked a significant breakthrough. St. Victor's solo career began in 1993 with Elektra Records, though her debut album Sanctuary was never released. In 1996, Warner Brothers released Mack Diva Saves the World, which received critical acclaim but lacked radio support. She featured on Curtis Mayfield's final album, New World Order.
