Vinicius de Moraes was born on October 19, 1913, in Rio de Janeiro. He is considered one of the greatest Brazilian poets, author of “Soneto de Fidelidade”, “Pátria Minha” and “Operário em Construção”. As a composer, he was one of the exponents of bossa nova and author of great national and international hits, such as “Chega de saudade”, “Garota de Ipanema” and “Insensatez”. Among its main partners are Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Baden Powell and Toquinho. His play Orfeu da Conceição was adapted for film and won the Oscar for Foreign Film and the Palme d'Or in 1960. His book of children's poems, Noah's Ark, was set to music and won an Emmy-winning TV special in 1981. . He died at his home, in Rio de Janeiro, on July 9, 1980, at the age of 66.
