François Luthereau (Guitars), Ivano Bass (Bass) et Amadi Nkurikiye (Drums) fondent Ibirori Jazz Band en 2012 au Burundi
Back in Burundi in 2006, François Luthereau, guitarist and composer, joined Macumba Jazz and met 2 talented young Burundian musicians: bassist Yvan Kwizera alias 'Ivano Bass' (now bassist of Sauti Sol and songwriter of an EP in 2023) and drummer Amadi Nkurikiye.
The trio founded Ibirori Jazz Band in 2012. The group performed on the Burundian scene from 2012 to 2015, with the participation of Linah Blanche (vocals), Karoline Caesar (flute & saxophone), Bachir Dia (keyboard & vocals) among others.
In 2015, the trio recorded the 12 tracks of the TWESE project which will be gradually "spiced" in Burundi with Linah Blanche and the violinist Michel Goffin, then in Benin with the saxophonist Josélito Atchadé, without forgetting the voice of JJN, the slammer/rapper Sergent Markus, Dieudonné Sagbohan on keyboards and Amos Chacha on percussion.
After the album AZIZA with FAT Trio (launched in Benin), François meet again Yvan, Amadi and Linah in Burundi in 2022 to prepare the release of the album "TWESE" which will finally be released in early 2023: a wish for peace and prosperity for Burundi through a mix of mixed sensations with a jazz spirit.
The album is presented on the Burundian scene in October-November 2023, by François and Amadi who have reconstituted an Ibirori Jazz Band team with Elysé Irambona (bass), Farley Irimbere (keyboards), Manuel Amadei (saxophone), Didier Uwineza (slam/rap), Linah Blanche (vocals) and Michel Goffin (violin).
