Guitarist, composer, François Luthereau is a musical adventurer, French and Auvergnat cru 1959. First composition in 1976 'En allant vers le Vide'.
The story of a long friendship that dates back to the time when they co-founded the band Abelys (1976 - 1978), he signs with Gabriel Joseph-Dezaize alias 'Gaby' his third album ABELYS in 2024, in the spirit of rock poems: “ Ode to the planet, ode to love and ode to love of the planet”. Ten original tracks are offered, drawing their musical roots both from the progressive rock of the 1970s and from mixed influences of jazz spirit and Afrobeat, the result of François' many African musical experiences.
Open to jazz-rock, bossa, Latino, reggae, funk and afrobeat, he landed in Burundi in 1982 and played with Baby John, Tanga, Buddy.
Passing through Niger (blues & funk with Syncop), he returned to Burundi &n 1988 where he recorded 15 titles with Ginda and Ingoma International Band (fusion traditional music).
After a period of composition in Tanzania and jazz in Paris, he returned to Burundi in 2006, joined Macumba Jazz and then founded Ibirori Jazz Band with Ivano Bass and Amadi Nkurikiye. In 2015, they recorded the basis of the album TWESE, which will be gradually spiced up in Burundi, in Benin and finally be released in early 2023.
In the meantime, he started another project in Benin with Amos Chacha and Timobass (FAT Trio), which will lead to the album AZIZA in 2021.
