Cultivating curiosity, poetry, daring and sharing: such is the mission of the baroque ensemble La Palatine. Directed by Marie Théoleyre and Guillaume Haldenwang, this variable-geometry ensemble places itself under the sparkling, quirky figure of the Princess Palatine, the Roi Soleil truculent sister-in-law. Specialising in the French and Italian repertoires of the 17th century, its aim is to touch audiences directly with the colour and expressiveness of its performances. The ensemble also likes to straddle the centuries, offering adaptations of well-known French songs at their concerts. Passionate about the dialogue between the arts, La Palatine sees its concerts as veritable spectacles full of life and fantasy.
Created in 2019, the young ensemble performs in numerous festivals such as the Ambronay Festival, Embaroquement Immédiat, the York Early Music Festival, the Cordes-sur-Ciel Festival and Mars en Baroque. The ensemble recently performed at the Opéra de Rennes. La Palatine is a laureate of the International H.IF.Biber Competition (Austria), where it won the F.J. Aumann prize for new discoveries in baroque music. A member of the European Eeemerging + programme, the latter revealed the ensemble at the 2021 Ambronay Festival. La Palatine is also supported by the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, the Fondation Royaumont and the Caisse des Dépôts.
