Sophie Junker, born in 1985 in Belgium, is a soprano vocalist specializing in Baroque music. She received her initial vocal training from her father, Stéphan Junker, and later studied at the IMEP in Namur and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her breakthrough came in 2010 when she won the Handel Competition in London. In 2012, she secured the first prize at the international Cesti Competition of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. Junker's notable roles include Amor in Orpheus and Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck and Galatea in Acis and Galatea by Georg Friedrich Händel. Her discography includes albums such as Sacrifices (2014), Esther (2016), and La Francesina (2020), which earned her the Choc de Classica, Diamant from Opéra Magazine, Trophée Forum Opéra for Best Album of the Year, and the International Classical Music Awards in 2021.
