Michael Volle, born in 1960 in Freudenstadt, Germany, is a German operatic baritone. He studied voice at Musikhochschule Trossingen and Musikhochschule Stuttgart. His career began at the Nationaltheater Mannheim in 1990, performing roles such as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte. Volle later joined the Bonn Opera and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He became a member of the ensemble at the Opernhaus Zürich from 1999 to 2007, followed by the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Notable roles include Falstaff in Verdi's opera, Eugene Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s work, and Wozzeck in Alban Berg’s opera. Volle has performed at major European opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, where he appeared as Mandryka in Arabella and Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. He received several awards, including Singer of the Year by Opernwelt in 2008 and Der Faust in 2009.
