A venir prochainement les Vêpres de Monteverdi
In 2019, ensemble I Gemelli made a remarkable entry on the international Baroque scene with an acclaimed debut disc devoted to Cozzolani's Vespro (Choc Classica, Toccata's CD of the month and Diapason d'or de l'année 2019) followed by Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. The ensemble continues its momentum with the release of Soleil noir, a recital dedicated to Francesco Rasi (Diapason d'Or of the year 2021, Diamant Opéra Magazine, Opera News' Critics Choice, FFFF Télérama etc) and that of L'Orfeo (5 Diapasons, Diamant Opéra Magazine, Figaro Disc of the Year etc).
Founded in 2018 by Emiliano Gonzalez Toro and Mathilde Etienne, the I Gemelli ensemble specializes in 17th-century vocal music. Its vocation is to champion the major works of this period, as well as lesser-known or even previously unpublished scores.
Unlike a conductor coming from the pit or continuo, the ensemble obeys the inflections of a singer-conductor in a declamatory search, following the rhetoric of the text. Historically informed, the I Gemelli ensemble plays on period instruments, collaborating closely with academics and musicologists in the elaboration of each program. Guest artists range from international stalwarts to talents from the new generation of singers and instrumentalists.
In 2022, the Gemelli Factory label was created in order to support the ambitious projects of the ensemble and its artists, with the resources necessary for a phonographic production mastered from start to finish.
Gemelli Factory's first release, A Room of Mirrors, immediately won over audiences and critics alike, winning a Gramophone Editor's Choice, a Diapason d'or, a Diamant Opéra magazine, a Clé resmusica, a Clic Classique News, Operanews Critic's Choice, and a Coup de cœur Forumopéra.
In 2025, two new releases : Ariel Rámirez's Misa Criolla - the latin jazz project (a latino jazz version) featuring Alain Pérez, Thomas Enhco, Emiliano Gonzalez Toro & The Amazing Keystone bug band, and Monteverdi's Vespero della Beata Vergine, in a luxury record-book, both on the Gemelli Factory label.
