Grammy winning, multi-platinum recording artist and international superstar, Ariana Grande, is the first artist to achieve the top three Billboard Hot 100 spots since The Beatles in 1964 with “7 Rings,” “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored,” and “Thank U, Next.” At age 26, she has delivered three platinum-selling albums and surpassed 35 billion streams – she’s Spotify’s most streamed female artist of the past decade – while rapidly becoming one of the biggest pop stars of our generation with her powerhouse vocals and unmatched presence both on stage and with her fans. A Boca Raton, Florida native, Grande began singing and acting at an early age in local theater productions. At 15 years old, she landed the role of “Charlotte” in the Broadway production of 13. From there, she was cast in Nickelodeon’s Victorious which led to a spin-off starring Grande’s character in Sam & Cat. Other television credits include voice work in Family Guy, Winx Club and Underdogs with on-camera roles in Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens and an upcoming guest role in Jim Carrey’s Kidding. In 2016, Grande starred as “Penny Pingleton” in Hairspray Live! for NBC. She also hosted her Saturday Night Live that same year.
Grande made her first mark on the music scene in 2013 with “The Way.” The single debuted on the top ten US charts and was certified as triple platinum. Her debut album Yours Truly debuted at number 1 on Billboard 200 and her single “The Way” peaked at number 9 on Billboard Hot 100. In 2014, her second album My Everything quickly solidified her place as one of pop’s most significant artists with 6-time platinum hits such as “Problem” and “Bang Bang” as well as “Break Free,” “Love Me Harder” and “One Last Time.” The record was created with a notable lineup of producers including Max Martin, Shellback, Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco and earned her two GRAMMY nominations. Also in 2014, three songs from My Everything – “Bang Bang,” “Break Free” and “Problem” were in the top 10 of the Hot 100 simultaneously, a record previously set only by Adele. Her second album was followed by a holiday EP, Christmas & Chill.
In 2015, Grande released the platinum single “Focus” and announced her third album, Dangerous Woman. With the release of the record’s title track, she became the first artist in music history to have the lead single from each of her first three albums to debut in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. Dangerous Woman earned her GRAMMY nominations for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance, and it was also her first #1 album in the UK.
On June 4, 2017, Grande held One Love Manchester, a massively successful charity concert to benefit victims of the bombing that occurred in the same city months earlier during her Dangerous Woman tour. After wrapping the tour in Sept 2017, a 4-part documentary style series of the tour was released on YouTube Premium, titled, Dangerous Woman Diaries.
In August 2018, Grande’s fourth album Sweetener debuted at number one on both the US and UK charts featuring singles “No Tears Left To Cry” and “God Is A Woman.” She received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance for “God Is A Woman” and her first GRAMMY win for Best Pop Vocal Album. She was also named Billboard’s “Woman of the Year” and was the Top Streamed female artist on Spotify in 2018.
Three months after the release of Sweetener, her single “thank u, next” became a pop culture sensation and shot to number one as did her following single “7 rings,” which also broke the record for the most streams in a single chart week in the UK. Her fifth album, thank u, next also debuted at number one on Billboard 200 and holds the record for largest streaming week for both a Pop Album and largest streaming week for an album by a female artist ever (307M streams). It was also the first album of 2019 to surpass 2 billion on-demand audio streams. Rounded out by “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” the singles filled the top three Billboard Hot 100 spots making her the only female in music history to simultaneously have 11 charting songs on Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hits. Ariana also became the first female artist to replace herself at #1 on the UK Official Singles Chart when “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” overtook “7 rings.” The album has garnered five GRAMMY nominations and was named one of the best albums of the decade by Rolling Stone. It also broke the UK record for most album streams ever by a female artist in a week with thank you, next surpassing her own record set by Sweetener.
In 2019, Grande’s Sweetener tour broke voter registration organization, HeadCount’s, all-time record of voter registrations and actions, making it the most successful tour in their history.
