Stéphane Huchard, born in 1964 in France, is a French drummer who began playing at age seven as an autodidact. He studied at the Schlagzeugerschule Dante Agostini in Paris from age fifteen and initially focused on rock music before discovering jazz. In the early 1980s, Huchard collaborated with notable musicians such as Louis Winsberg and Jean-Pierre Como. Throughout the decade, he played with Laurent Cugny's Big Band “Lumiére” and the Orchestre National de Jazz. He accompanied singers Élisabeth Caumont and Tania Maria and worked with artists including Sylvain Beuf, François Jeanneau, Nguyên Lê, Andy Emler, and Jacky Terrasson. Huchard released his debut album Tribal Traquenard in 1999 under Blue Note Records, followed by Toutakoosticks in 2002. His subsequent albums include Bouchabouches (2005), African Tribute to Art Blakey (2008), and Panamerican (2013). In 2000, Huchard received the Django d’Or as New Talent in France.
