Biography

Brainy Michigan rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. (born on October 10, 1997 in Pontiac, Michigan, US) – known by his stage names DDG and PontiacMadeDDG – began developing his easy-going flow and growing his passion for music as a child. In 2016, he launched his foray into rap as DDG with two tracks – "Balenciagas" and "Free Parties" – which were both produced by Zaytoven. The following year saw DDG's career take off with the release of the Take Me Serious EP, featuring standout track "Givenchy." In June 2018, he scored a record deal with Epic Records and dropped the single "Arguments," which was certified Gold in 2018. Gaining even more momentum with the release of his second EP, Sorry 4 the Hold Up, a video for "Hold Up" featuring Queen Naija made huge waves on YouTube. DDG's debut 2019 album Valedictorian, released via Epic Records, tipped its hat to his experience of being class valedictorian at International Tech Academy and showcased the catchy cut "Push," which featured a sample of Salt-N-Pepa's iconic classic, "Push It." From YouTube to Billboard, DDG's 2020 single "Moonwalking in Calabasas," which later received two remixes, the first featuring Blueface and the second featuring YG, became his first track to make it onto the Billboard Hot 100. 2021 saw the release of "Money Long" featuring 42 Dugg and the Die 4 Respect mixtape with OG Parker.
