Manuel Jiménez Martínez de Pinillos, known professionally as Manuel Vallejo, was born on October 15, 1891, in Seville, Spain. He began his career as a flamenco singer, training under Antonio Chacón taking lessons in La Alameda de Hércules. Vallejo's breakthrough came with performances in Barcelona and Madrid. Vallejo interpreted various styles of flamenco, from fandangos to bulerías, and cantes like siguiriyas and soleás. Notable achievements include being awarded the Copa Pavón in 1925 and winning the II Llave de Oro del Cante in 1926. He released recordings such as Cante Flamenco (1958) and collaborated with esteemed guitarists including Ramón Montoya, Miguel Borrull, Manolo de Huelva, and Niño Ricardo. Vallejo continued performing until his retirement in the 1950s. He passed away on August 7, 1960, in Seville.
