Jonas Westergaard, born on August 6, 1976, in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a jazz double bassist. He studied at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium and began his professional career in the late 1990s, collaborating with notable figures such as Christopher Dell, Benjamin Koppel, and Christian Lillinger. Westergaard's breakthrough came with the release of Helgoland (2008), an album featuring his own compositions, which was recorded after he received a special prize from Danmarks Radio in 2006. Throughout his career, he has been involved in numerous recordings, including collaborations with Oliver Lake, John Tchicai, and Kresten Osgood on Passin’ Through (2006), and with Daniel Erdmann and Samuel Rohrer on Sleeping with the Enemy (2007).
