Quinsin Nachoff is a Canadian-American jazz musician (tenor saxophone, clarinet, composer). He began his career in Toronto, where he studied at the University of Toronto and gained early recognition as a saxophonist through his quartet recordings. He taught in the university’s jazz program from 2005 to 2008 before relocating to New York City. His debut album Magic Numbers (2006) explored the intersection of jazz and classical music. Nachoff has written commissioned works, including for the Molinari String Quartet, and has collaborated with physicist Stephen Morris, incorporating ideas from patterns in nature into his compositions, such as “Winding Tessellations,” premiered at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in 2017. His album Flux (2016) and its follow-up Path Of Totality (2018) were both nominated for Juno Awards.
