Nuša Derenda, born Anuška Žnideršič on March 30, 1969 in Brežice, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia, is a Slovenian singer. Her musical talent was recognized early, and she performed in choirs, as a soloist, and learned to play the accordion. In 1990, she formed a group with her partner Frenk, touring across Yugoslavia and abroad. From 1998, she collaborated with the band Happy Hour. Her debut album Vzemi me veter (Take Me, Wind) was released in 1999, with its title track winning the Orion contest. In 2001, she represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with “Energy”, placing seventh. She has received several awards, including the Victor of Popularity and the Zlati petelin (Golden Rooster) for “Ni mi žal” ("I’m Not Sorry").
