Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson, born on August 26, 1969, in Stockholm, Sweden, is an Icelandic artist and singer. He grew up in Reykjavík and began composing music in various styles, including electronic, rock, blues, country, and experimental genres, during the 1980s. Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with "Það sem enginn sér" (What No One Sees), finishing last with zero points. In the mid-1990s, he co-founded the band GusGus, which signed with 4AD and released two albums, Polydistortion and This is normal, before Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson left in 2000 to pursue other projects. He contributed music for various films and dance theater productions, including collaborations with Gabríela Friðriksdóttir on art films (Tetralogia) shown at the Venice Biennale in 2005. His solo debut album Swallowed a Star was released in February 2006. Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson later rejoined GusGus and contributed to their albums Attention, Forever, 24/7, and Arabian Horse.
