Kemialliset Ystävät, which translates to "Chemical Friends," is a recording project initiated by musician Jan Anderzén in Tampere, Finland. Anderzén began recording under this name in 1995, often working solo but occasionally collaborating with other musicians. The project is known for its experimental approach, incorporating diverse instruments such as detuned guitars, mandolins, balalaikas, toys, hand percussion, and samples from recordings by Sun Ra, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Vibracathedral Orchestra. Kemialliset Ystävät released their debut album Kellari Juniversumi in 2002 on Fonal Records. Subsequent releases include Alkuhärkä (2004), Latvasta Laho (2005), and Lumottu Karkkipurkki, reissued in 2005. The project's experimental rock sound continued with albums like Kemialliset ystävät (2007) and the split release Split Series 19 (2008), featuring collaborations such as "June" with Tomutonttu feat. Henkka in 2009. Notable later releases include Ullakkopalo (2010) and Alas Rattoisaa Virtaa (2014).
